Happy Earth Day! While we believe every day is the best day to conserve resources and make wise decisions for the planet, today is a great day to start some new habits. Here are our favorite ways to keep our body and the planet in tip top shape:
Get a re-usable water bottles: The new Square by Clean Bottle is a bright way to limit waste, reduce production of harmful plastics and save your wallet some serious cash while you stay hydrated to optimize your health!
Squeeze in a workout at home: Short driving trips are the worst polluters. Instead of taking a separate trip to the gym to work on your core strength, get creative and fit in a circuit at home! We love seeing Skinny Chick Jacqueline sweat through an at-home workout using the Perfect Fitness Multi-Gym and Ab Straps Pro (above).
Bike (or walk or run) commute: Now that spring weather is in full swing (along with record high temperatures around the U.S.) hop on your bike for your nearby errands or even walk to date night. You will reduce toxins in the air, improve your own health and have tons of fun along the way–we promise!
Eat more veggies: A pound of potatoes uses 99% less water to produce than a pound of meat. Livestock are also responsible for 18% of greenhouse gasses each year. So whether you go meatless on Mondays, cut back on your meat portion size or go veggie altogether, you are making one of the biggest environmentally conscious choices possible. Most importantly, veggies are so good for you as they are packed with nutrients and fiber–check out Joanna’s rainbow veggie salad pictured above! Yum!
Get outside: Spending time in nature is a great way to connect with our environment, our health and ourselves. Whether it is a nature walk with your kids, an epic trail run, paddling out into some waves or even find a quiet spot outside to think, the more time we spend outside the more we will want to protect the places that we play in. Simple things like picking up trash on the ground and staying on marked paths to preserve delicate eco-systems make a big impact when repeated over and over.
So what are you waiting for? We challenge you to make one small change for your health and the planet today!
